Nestled away from the busy city, deep within the serene, green oasis of suburban Songjiang, stands a magnificent three-story villa—the home and studio of a female artist and poet Mianhua. Here, surrounded by tranquility, she creates an array of stunning artworks, including paintings, ceramics, and sculptures.
For a select few, Mianhua opens the doors of her sanctuary—a space of unique beauty where she lives, dreams, and creates, the space where she receives her closest friends and most esteemed collectors. For this unique experience, SPOTTED invites you to step into the artist’s world, experience her intimate environment, and explore the essence of YOURS and her creative spirits.
In this rare gathering, we’ll be guided through the artist’s home, exploring her earliest to most recent works across the three floors of her villa. We’ll then pause for a Slow Looking Hour – a facilitated mindful-looking session with Mianhua’s newest, yet-to-be-revealed painting. Through a nearly 60-minute guided contemplation and meditation, we’ll connect deeply with the piece, expanding the boundaries of what we can see, think, feel, and experience in front of an artwork. Following this, we’ll engage in a lively conversation with the artist and each other, over tea, coffee, and afternoon treats. We’ll reflect on our personal powerful journeys through the slow-looking experience, listen to Mianhua’s reflections, and have an opportunity to delve deeper into Mianhua’s artistic journey, as well as creative and co-creative processes that took place during the session. This will be an open, fluid conversation, one that might even call for a glass of wine, if the mood takes us there.
